Movie Madness # 1 Sucker Puch, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, Friends With Benefits

I love watching movies, especially now it's getting colder it's so nice to stay inside and watch a movie. These are the movies I've seen lately and what I think of them.

Sucker Punch (2011)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy
With: Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens and Abbie Cornish
IMDB rating: 6.2

You have to understand the fine line between fantasy and reality to appreciate this movie. In this movie there's the reality, a sub-reality and a fantasy that are parallel to each other. After the death of her mother and sister the young girl nicknamed ''Babydoll'' (fantastically played by Emily Browning) is institutionalized by her stepfather. There she will undergo a lobotomy in five days' time. She retreats into a fantasy world, where she and four other girls plot to escape from the mental asylum. With the help of a mysterious guide they fight to find the five items they will need to break free. I absolutely love this movie so much, I've watched it four times this month. On top of that I've been listening to the soundtrack a lot, the music really compliments the movie. The movie also has a lot of memorable quotes, my favourite one is:
''If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything'' - Wiseman.

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (2006)
Genre: Drama, Fantasy
With: Ben Whishaw, Dustin Hoffman and Alan Rickman
IMDB rating: 7.5

This movie was on television this Wednesday. I had seen parts of it some years ago, and I was intrigued so this time I wanted to watch the complete movie. It is based upon the novel Das Parfum by the German writer Patrick Süskind, it was believed to be impossible to make a movie of it, because the most important aspect of this novel ''smell'', cannot be shown on camera. The story focuses on Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, who was born without body scent, but has an abnormally strong sense of smell. He falls in love with the scent of a girl with plums, and when he accidentally kills her, he becomes obsessed with capturing smell. He decided to become a perfumier, and learns everything about the art of making perfumes from the once great Baldini (played by Dustin Hoffman. Unfortunately he turns into a serial killer during his mission create the perfect perfume. It's an interesting and intriguing movie to watch that definitely leaves an impression.

Friends With Benefits (2011)
Genre:  Comedy, Romance
With: Mila Kunis, Justin Timberlake and Patricia Clarkson
IMDB rating: 6.6

I normally don't like romantic comedies that much, they're cheesy and predictable and usually not that funny. This one is just as predictable as any other romantic comedy. You just know Dylan (Justin Timberlake) and Jamie (Mila Kunis) will end up together. No matter how hard they try to deny it in the beginning, just friends with benefits, yeah right! Maybe it's because of the great chemistry Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake have (you've probably already heard of their moment on the MTV movie awards). Friends with Benefits is funny, unlike most romantic comedies, especially the scenes with Patricia Clarkson, who plays Jamie's mother are hilarious. Don't expect too much of it though, if you just want a good time/laugh and don't mind it to be a bit cheesy or predictable this movie is the right choice.

Have you seen any of these movies?
